The liberalization process in the railway sector has achieved substantial results particularly in the last 5 years. Competition both in the rail passenger transport and rail freight transport sector is customary nowadays. Professional, high-performance railways have been established in the tension field between the former government-operated railways. An essential feature of the liberalization process is that high-performance service providers have evolved in the railway market and meanwhile offer their service across Europe - a fact which permits different railways to realize varying business models. In addition to services in the field of engines and wagons, MEV Independent Railway Services succeeded in developing as staff service provider on a European level.
