Interactive Distributed Data Access in a GRID Environment

New interactive applications for the GRID environment will profit from the use of distributed computing techniques like the Message Passing Interface (MPI). The data these applications access should also be distributed for the sake of performance. We describe a method implemented in the European CrossGrid Project for enabling access to distributed data sources, for use in High Energy Physics and Meteorology data mining applications.
