INTEGRATED SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION: THE UNION OF TESTING AND ANALYSIS

The four phases of integrated system identification-formulation and use of a pre-test analytical model, dynamic testing and data reduction, identification of modal characteristics, and post-test model verification/refinement-are presented as they pertain to correlating a linear elastic finite element model to match test data. Application of each phase to modal testing and analysis of large-scale structures is given. Integrated system identification, linking testing and analysis by utilizing both the analyst and experimentalist, is shown to be an effective tool in deriving accurate structural models.
