“Nuisance Dusts” – Validation and Application of a Novel Dry Deposition Method for Total Dust Fall

Total dusts (no size discrimination) in the atmosphere are generally regarded as nuisance dusts by the majority of regulatory jurisdictions and hence no quantitative standards or guidelines are currently in place to define acceptable levels. As a result, methods are very seldom prescribed in these same regulations to collect data to define whether a nuisance dust condition actually exists. Furthermore, there is not a great deal of data available in the published literature on nuisance dust levels in the environment and more importantly what constitutes acceptable levels.
