Duke Energy Field Services (DEFS) operates a five-train, cryogenic, natural gas liquids recovery facility at Carthage, Texas. The facility can process approximately 780 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of natural gas and produce about 42,000 barrels per day (BPD) of NGL products. Intrinsic to the plant’s operation are compression, dehydration, liquid recovery by cryogenics, and final product liquid /vapor treating. Since 1996, each of these critical processes’ productivity has been increased through the specific application of high-technology separation and filtration devices and systems to address systemic contamination issues. This paper will demonstrate the rationale for and methodologies implemented by DEFS to achieve higher reliability, more efficient processing, and continued provision of quality products that meet customer expectations.
