Canine Parvovirus enteritis is a disease that exploded into the world population of canine medicine in 1978. Previous to 1974, clinical Canine Parvovirus (CPV) was unheard of. The first case was reported in a dog in Greece in 1974. Domestic dogs in Europe began developing the disease in 1976. The disease spread throughout the world in 1978. Serum samples of domestic and wild canids were tested and no sero conversion was found in serum collected prior to 1974 in Europe or the United States, where serum from wolves sero converted in 1975. Serum from wild coyotes in the United States did not sero convert until 1979.
