Lower urinary tract

Ultrasound is a common diagnostic procedure for evaluation of the lower urinary tract. It is often used as a first-line imaging modality due to its noninvasive nature and relative ease of the procedure. Calculi, blood clots, bladder wall thickness, mass lesions, diverticula, ureteroceles and even ectopic ureters can be evaluated. However, as with most areas of the body, ultrasound assessment of the ureters, bladder, and urethra may be complemented with radiographic procedures.
