Managing Design Changes Safely in an Operations, Maintenance and Overhaul Environment

This paper looks at historical trends in safety regulation and how these translate changes into the management and approval of design data. From this study, a number of issues are identified which may have current or future impact on the safety of design changes. These issues have been addressed within the Air New Zealand Engineering Services Design Organization and the resulting changes are discussed. Finally, the results of these changes are assessed from a safety viewpoint.
