^7fIn this paper, we discuss the application of hole-assisted type photonic crystal fibers (HAPCF) to indoor optical wiring. The necessary characteristics are investigated both numerically and experimentally. We calculated the field pattern, bending loss and long-term reliability of hole-assisted PCF. We then measured the bending and connection loss characteristics of fabricated hole-assisted type PCF. The calculation and measurement results show good agreement and suggest that the proposed fiber can be used with a bending radius as small as 10 mm. As a result, we confirmed that HAPCF is a promising candidate for use in wiring residential and business premises.
