摘要

The Global Communications, Navigation and Surveillance System (GCNSS) Program is a 22 month, $46 million dollar cost-sharing contract between FAA and Boeing's Air Traffic Management (ATM) business unit. Initiated in July 2002, the program has three prime objectives: 1. Define the role and business case for satellites for CNS in ATM. 2. Demonstrate a highly integrated, secure Surveillance Data Network (SDN) and System Wide Information Management (SWIM). 3. Demonstrate a broadband, two-way secure communications capability. A number of Boeing Corporation subsidiaries are supporting the Air Traffic Management business unit in this work including Connexion, Preston Aviation and Boeing Phantom Works. On the government side, in addition to on-call participation by over 50 FAA headquarters staff, MITRE's Center for Advance Aviation System Development (CAASD) and Lincoln Laboratory are bringing their experience and past efforts to the table in a collaborative effort.
