The LoPak4 and LoPak5 are very compact six-pack IGBT modules using the highly efficient SPT IGBT with narrow parameter spread. The three independent phase-legs inside the module are easily parallelable allowing the modules to be configured as a dual-pack. Even paralleling of the phases over the physical boundaries of one module is possible thus allowing the modules to be used in a large range of inverter power. This paper provides design recommendations on how to parallel the LoPak4 and LoPak5 modules. Additionally a new type of thermal derating calculations is presented allowing the user to calculate the impact of current imbalance on the inverter output current.
