A simplified method of noise mapping in accordance with EU Directive 2002/49/EC

As decided by the European Parliament and the Council (2002/49/EG), for the assessment of environmental noise (road, railway, aircraft, industry) of the indices L_(den) and L_(night) have to be used. The Autors of this Paper found, that from the existing noise indicators (L_(day), L_(night)) one can calculate L_(den) with a good accuracy. The aim of this paper is to simplify the use of the new index, by presenting a formula to calculate L_(den) from L_(Aeq)(06-22) and L_(Aeq)(22-06).
