The TRMM Multi-satellite Precipitation Analysis (MPA) provides a new source of quasi-gLobal precipitation estimates, incorporating passive microwave and infrared precipitation estimates into a hierarchy of cross-calibrated data sets at relatively fine scale (0.25°x0.25°, 3-hourly). MPA estimates been available for almost 2 years in real time, and they are being computed back to January 1998 as part of TRMM Version 6 reprocessing. Examples of the instantaneous data and of an early application to flood monitoring are presented, together with several URLs that allow users to access the data sets and a variety of standard and specially prepared data visualizations. All data described in this paper are publicly available.
