摘要

The morphology of the exfoliated and intercalated clay layers was observed by TEM. The different reinforcing effect of exfoliated and intercalated clay platelets was measured by DMA. Clay modification with both MT2EtOH and ODTMA was effective to achieve excellent bonding between epoxy/clay interface, and thus the fracture toughness was improved. The intercalated clay platelets provided better toughening effect because of the larger platelet size than the perfectly exfoliated clay platelets.
