This paper presents the response of a solid elastic layer (slab) when subjected to varying spatially sinusoidal harmonic line loads. The displacements within a solid layer of infinite extent are obtained using 2.5D Greens functions derived expressly for this case. These functions are included in a Boundary Element Method (BEM) model to simulate a slab with lateral confinements. Only the lateral boundaries need to be discretized with boundary elements. The problem is formulated in the frequency domain. Time responses are obtained by applying the inverse Fourier transform using complex frequencies. Different simulations are performed to understand the effect of the lateral confinements on the final response of the slab.
