FTIR CEMS FOR INCINERATORS, 10 YEARS EXPERIENCE

FTIR spectroscopy is a mature analytical method that has been applied to many field applications. For more than 10 years FTIR has been used to quantify the emissions of waste incinerators and other types of thermal treatment systems. In this paper the experiences gained in approximately 500 installations are discussed. As many as ten components have been measured on one spectrometer; we discuss the gases measured and the important parameters of performance, reliability, and sensitivity. A short theory of operation is included, as well as a discussion of the industrial environment in which this equipment must operate.
