FTIR CEMS FOR INCINERATORS, 10 YEARS EXPERIENCE

FTIR spectroscopy is a mature analytical method that has been applied to many fieldapplications. For more than 10 years FTIR has been used to quantify the emissions ofwaste incinerators and other types of thermal treatment systems. In this paper theexperiences gained in approximately 500 installations are discussed. As many as tencomponents have been measured on one spectrometer; we discuss the gases measuredand the important parameters of performance, reliability, and sensitivity. A short theoryof operation is included, as well as a discussion of the industrial environment in whichthis equipment must operate.
