REMOTE CONTROL OF EQUIPMENT AND PROCESSES FOR DATA ACQUISITION AND CONTROL SYSTEMS VIA THE INTERNET

The Boeing Company Structures Test Laboratory in Huntington Beach has developed and implemented a data acquisition and control system architecture that enables remote control of data acquisition and control operations. The backbone of the system uses the campus network and remote-control software that is commercially available. The server system supports remote display of real-time data and also supports restricted access of the data for analysis by authorized engineers across the company. This paper summarizes the design of the system and the Internet tools employed that make it possible to share test data and remotely control test equipment. The paper also presents the user-friendly interfaces and describes system capabilities.
