摘要

Our group has demonstrated that protein can be fabricated into matrices of separation value. We have further demonstrated that supported tubular WPI membrane can be made by coating the tubular support with the protein solution before heating the tube, and we will further develop the fabrication technology and the application of WPI membrane in times to come. We believe protein membrane will be most appropriate for organic solvent based separation, considering that membrane that is completely solvent stable and has a MWCO of about 1,000 is scarce. We also believe that, with the advancement of fabrication technology and further testing, protein membrane may become an attractive specialty membrane for biomedical and other application, given that collagen membrane and other protein coated membranes are known to have desirable characteristics.
