Rendering Back into the Economic Circuit the Lands Occupied and Damaged by the Lignite Opencast Operations in Romania

摘要

The first part of this paper deals with the introduction of Romanian lignite deposits as well as their mining and beneficiation. The underground mining operations, but particularly the opencast mining severely influence the environment and especially destroy large land surface areas. Consequently, this paper gives the surface areas occupied by the mining operations so far and the results obtained further to the reclamation and recycling of the lands occupied by the waste dumps and the removal of the technological plants from the said lands and their reintroduction within the agriculture and forestry circuits. The second part of the paper deals with the surface areas which will be occupied as well as those that will be rearranged until the year 2010 so that the gap between the two categories of lands is reduced as much as possible.
