Policy Issues Pertaining to Environmental Protection in Developing Countries with Particular Reference to Indian Mines

The environmental impacts of mining are well known both in developed and developing countries. During the last two decades of the twentieth century, increasing attention has been paid both by developed and developing countries alike for containing the effects of pollution caused by mining operations. In India, too, several policy initiatives have been taken to promote eco-friendly mining which have been highlighted.
