Electrochemical machining, ECM, is used to produce complex shapes in super alloys and other hard metals. The process has many advantages such as the independence of machining rate on hardness, the absence of tool wear and thermal stresses in the workpiece and, the ability to produce high surface quality. Typical applications of ECM include complex shapes in turbine blades, gun barrel rifles, forging dies, and moulds. Modern process applications include sawing, grinding and finishing of holes. Orbital electrochemical machining (OECM) is currently adopted in many areas using smaller power supplies, tools, and electrolyte circulation systems In this paper OECM is used for finishing holes using stationary (non-feeding) tool. Effects of some process parameters such as orbiting speed, and tool diameter have been investigated. Material removal rates, current efficiency. Machined allowance, surface roughness and roundness error have been also evaluated.
