Visual outcome after cataract extraction and implantation of an intraocular lens is influenced by a multitude of factors. Clearly, surgery itself, and surgery-related techniques, procedures and equipment applied are of utmost importance. Perfect surgery, however, may be compromised if a wrong IOL power had been selected. Therefore, a precise power calculation for the implant lens is a prerequisite for successful cataract surgery.
