Multi-objective optimization based on a genetic algorithm was carried out to maximize the pumping effect of reversed spiral grooves at both low and high rotating speeds. The hydrodynamic pressure distributions were calculated by solving the steady-state Reynolds equation, as predicting cavity regions with conservation law of flow rate at the cavity regions. The optimization results indicated that the optimal textured structure could improve the pumping effect at both low and high rotating speeds; further, the relationship between the design variables of a reversed spiral groove and the pumping performance was determined.
