A dual flow axisymmetric plug nozzle concept was developed for a supersonic airframe application in the Mach 1.5 to 3 flight regime. The purpose of the program was to develop an exhaust system concept that would provide low noise at takeoff while maintaining very high internal performance at supersonic cruise. For this study, a dual flow inverted velocity profile (IVP) was employed in which a high temperature and velocity flow stream surrounds a lower temperature and velocity flow stream. Nozzle internal performance and acoustic test results for this design concept is reviewed.
