ROLLS-ROYCE PROPULSION SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY - A VISION FOR THE FUTURE

Future propulsion systems will necessarily address increasingly stringent Safety, Environmental, Cost, Performance, Weight and Functional Requirements. Optimizing solutions will require complex trade-offs and be enabled by an exciting range of evolving technologies. Rolls-Royce has recently published its Vision5, Vision10, Vision20 Technology program. This comprehensive program targets enhancements in noise, emissions, controls, health monitoring, electrical components, materials, component structures/performance and cost reduction technologies that will be demonstrated in several propulsion system test vehicles to verify benefits. This paper provides an overview of evolving and stepchange technologies, and propulsion system advancements that will result in innovative new products for 2023 and beyond.
