Changes to the operating parameters of the ozonation process have occurred following the installation of an ultrafiltration plant at Clay Lane Water Treatment Works. The ozone residual has been significantly reduced, resulting in substantially lower bromate formation. Uron pesticides continue to be removed adequately by ozone, although lower removal of triazines is achieved. It has been determined that a minimal ozone residual enhances the particle removal performance of downstream processes, although it is not economic to run at a higher residual and no additional benefit is obtained by so doing.
