This article presents a proposal of integration and processing the functional knowledge in parts design process where ideation about the relationship of function/form is important point of view in the parts embodiment. One way to organize the product information to be used in design process is to achieve a set of possible functional structures of the same. Those products description, mainly during their conception, are organized as a tree of functions, which is called functional structure of the product. Such functional structure is better described during the design interface conceptual/preliminary phases in the product design (PPPd). This functional product analyze in terms of functional structure may be extended for parts design. In general ways, the modeling of the part geometry are strongly dependent of designer experiences in design process, mainly, when he/she needs to adjust the geometric details to the configurations of the parts in the product. This article proposes to use a expert system to deal with functional structure description. Firstly, storing the functional description of parts in a database. Here, designer could describe a functional tree of part functions and store its description in terms of phrasal description. Secondly, a expert algorithm, by using a functional parser analyzer will process algorithmically the functional structure description.
