LOCI serves the LADAR and free space optical communications community by developing and demonstrating component technology, by providing unprecedented sensing, tracking, identification and access to information, and by training the future workforce for leadership in the field. The University of Dayton has established a comprehensive LADAR and optical communications center that will serve as the nexus between government funded research and company cooperative research. It will develop educational programs to serve industry and government identified needs. LOCI has a cooperative agreement with the Air Force. We expect coordinated activity between the University of Dayton, the Air Force Research Laboratory, and the Air Force Institute of Technology. Laser radar and free space laser communication research will be coordinated among the 3 groups.
