The main goal of the present paper is to provide a comprehensive analysis of light propagation properties in multi-step index (MSI) fibres based on the geometric optics method. We focus on the analysis of both the ray transit time and the ray dispersion and investigate the light power acceptance properties of the MSI fibre.
