Effect of core non-concentricity on joint loss in polymer optical fibre

摘要

A theory is given to calculate the offset loss when two identical non-concentric graded index multimode POFs are joined. It is found that the loss arises mainly from the non-acceptance of some of the skew rays by the receiving fibre in the overlapping area.
