The reliability of fault waterproof coal pillar largely restricts the safety production of coal mine and is thus considered as the key factor of mine safety. The protective seam mining of a coal mine in Shanxi Province is taken as the research object in this work. The authentic numerical simulation of the faults, the strata and the protective seam mining in the entire mining area has been really conducted using FLAC30 code. For the reliability of water inrush risk assessment, based on the numerical calculation data, the water inrush coefficient method of effective watertight stratum is adopted to estimate the floor water inrush risk of the protective seam mining. The results indicate that the floor disruption depth of the protective coal seam is swung up and down with the waterproof coal pillar thickness and has an important influence on the result of water inrush evaluation.
