Strategy of Reconstruction of Ecological and Aesthetic Functions of the Kladno Region Landscape in Disturbed by Hard Coal Mining

Hard coal mining, landscape rehabilitation, landscape functions, landscape categorization, landscape restoration ecology, classification of vulnerability The strategy, proposed in this paper, is a result of the strive for a systematic issues to resolving the problems linked to disturbances in the ecological and aesthetic functions of the Kladno region landscape which have been demonstrated during the entire coal mining period and which have become even more important after the discontinuation of the anthropogenic activities. With the end of coal mining in the region a number of questions have arisen which now require an intensive search for the answers. They are namely the current identifiable scope of disturbances to the ecological and aesthetic functions of the landscape and implemented their gradual mitigation by natural ecological succession or the rehabilitation measures realised. The proposed categorisation was developed from the data collected in the analysis of landscape vulnerability. The classification was verified on several pilot studies, projects, and strategies presented.
