The cervical spine may be involved in rheumatoid arthritis in over half of cases. Atlantoaxial subluxation, basilar impression and subaxial subluxations are common types of cervical spine involvement. Ten patients with cervical spine lesions due to rheumatoid arthritis were treated surgically during the last four years. There were two patients with basilar impression, four patients with atlantoaxial subluxation and four with subaxial subluxation.
