Tissue samples from 11 primary brain tumors and of tumor free brain tissue were collected-^sBesides routine neuropathologic assessment, sections were submitted to infrared (IR) microspectroscopic analysis with both conventional bench-top equipment and synchrotron light source in an attempt to find compositional differences that could be of value in tumor sub-classification of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM).
