Geotechnical Properties from In-Situ Tests at the Incheon International Airport

Analysis of the in-situ test and laboratory test at the Incheon International Airport shows that the ground classification of unified soil classification system(USCS) was CL and ML and undrained shear strength from experimental result was between 2 t/ m~2 and 10 t/ m~2, also field vane test S_u values were turned out to be 1.5~2.0 times higher than other in situ test results, and the increasing ratio of the undrained shear strength with depth was 0.2~0.4, but the strength ratio from in-situ testing value was 0.34~0.4. In addition it was found that, the ratio of lateral and vertical directional consolidation at the site was about 4.3, which indicates that the consolidation states of the site is clearly different in the vertical and horizontal direction based on in-situ conditions.
