This paper reviewed the various methods of temporary removable ground anchors. The shortcomings of these methods were discussed. It then introduced the latest ground anchor system used in Singapore. This system is more efficient and permits the installation of very high capacity ground anchors. The advantages of the later method were illustrated through a case study of a fast track project. Geotechnical engineers took advantage of its high capacity to meet the short construction period. The details of the ground anchors with working load of up to 1500kN, the method of installation, the testing procedure and its performance were reported.
