A series of centrifugal model tests were performed to investigate the influence of construction on a four-level braced excavation. The influence of construction was simulated by varying excavation volume between the samples. Each sample was retrieved from an undisturbed clay block obtained in-situ from a depth of 12 m below the ground. The test results show that reducing the excavation volume and un-braced time can efficiently reduce the ground surface settlement and the stress in the diaphragm wall.
