Finite element simulations of self-boring pressuremeter tests in a soft marine clay

摘要

The paper constructs a constitutive model based on laboratory tests on undisturbed samples of the San Francisco Bay Mud. The paper then verifies the model first against the laboratory tests and then against a field cavity expansion experiment (the self-boring pressuremeter test) in the same soil, using finite element analysis. It is found that the FEM model is capable of representing the field behavior of the soft marine clay.
