Development and utilization of local geotechnical information database in Hachinohe city

In 1980's, Moroto and Hasegawa constructed the Hachinohe local geotechnical information database (1980HDB), however they were not able to keep managing it. In 2009, the authors developed the renewal version of 1980HDB using Web-GIS and common format for geotechnical database in Japan. The construction of HDB clarified the issues for continuous managing. In the construction of 2009HDB, the developed system was designed in consideration of the prospect of locality, general trend, sustainability, and utilization. Moreover, a local organized committee was established to steer HDB continuously during the future. In this paper, the outline of the construction of 2009HDB and a few studies using 2009HDB are described.
