Many natural slopes have clayey soils. Behaviour of clayey soils under a dynamic load is totally different from that of sandy soils. The water content in clay plays an important role. With rise in water content a clay deposit is likely to settle excessively under a dynamic load. The static factor of safety of a cohesive embankment decreases under a dynamic load. The deformation of the embankment under a dynamic load can be found out if the yield acceleration is known.
