Paraffin deposition under single-phase flow conditions was investigated to determine its dependence on shear stripping, deposit aging, flow regime, temperature gradient and fluid properties. Experimental analyses are presented for two different fluids (black-oil and condensate). The results revealed the important qualitative dependence of the deposition process on temperature gradient, flow rate, and flow regime. Of particular importance were the results of experiments where test conditions were changed to isolate diffusion mechanisms from other transport mechanisms, such as shear stripping. Results from both single-phase and multiphase flow loops confirmed results from previous investigators{SUP}1,2,10. In particular, higher temperature gradient resulted in higher deposition rates while higher flow rates resulted in thin and harder deposits.
