It is well known that applications of the standardκ-ε model to flowfields around bluff-shaped bodies, often yield serious errors such as overestimation of turbulence kinetic energy k in the impinging region. Several revised κ-ε models have been proposed in order to overcome this drawback. Recently, new revised κ-ε models based on a mixed time-scale concept were proposed by Nagano and Hattori. The present work employed the models based on the mixed time scale concept to simulate flow around a cube. The accuracy and applicability of the mixed time scale models to wind engineering problems are discussed by comparing their results with those of the standard κ-ε model and a wind tunnel experiment.
