Flow measurement techniques commonly used in wind tunnel studies include those based on pressure measurement, thermal anemometry, laser, erosion and flow visualisation. A flow measurement technique is normally adopted to meet specific measurement requirements, depending on the nature of the measurement and the accuracy expected. This paper outlines the advantages and disadvantages of different techniques, in terms of performance and operational limitation, capital cost and maintenance requirement.
