Dunng recent past the productivity of wheat has dechned remarkably due to popularization of rice-wheat cropping system in Indo-Gangetic plains of India. There are several reasons for this and among these the major one is unusual delay in planting of wheat crop, because of late harvest in basmati rice varieties. Thus, the wheat crop is exposed to two adverse temperature conditions, relatively low during germination and seedling establishment and high during post anthesis phase. Among the several physiological traits measurement of relative water content (RWC) and membrane injury index (Mil) were found more authentic.
