Conventional measurement and analysis cannot describe completely the customer evaluation of internal vehicles noise. The measurement of psychoacoustic parameters together with jury evaluations can give a complete picture of the product sound quality. In this paper nine used cars of popular category were tested; some were fairly new with 2,300 km driven and others were old with up to 260,000 km driven. The SPL was measured at the driver ear for different velocities for each car and binaural recording was carried out. The SPL in dB, dBA, sharpness and loudness were compared with the jury judgments. The results indicated that noise annoyance starts after about 100,000 km of car life and remains almost the same if the car is maintained in good condition.
