On desirable qualities of information system specifications

摘要

The goal of this paper is to present undesirable characteristics of enterprise modelling. Identification of these undesirable characteristics enables system designers to develop the principles for improvement of information systems specifications. The result of it will save a lot of money wasted every year on different projects in the area of business reengineering. Nowadays a lot of different methods and models are used in information system analysis and design, but problems concerning quality still exist. What is needed are certain criteria, which can help system designers to identify undesirable characteristics in different diagrams, on different levels of abstraction. Semantic integration of different diagrams may reduce the communication gap between system users and system designers. Enterprise models can be considered as a corporate resource in diagnosing potential problems and changes in organisations. Two examples of undesirable characteristics such as ambiguity and redundancy are represented in the paper as well.
