The entry of China into the World Trade Organization in 2001 is having a major impact on the global plastics and plastics additives industries.Consumption of PVC and polyolefins is growing at over 10% per year.This growth is leading to significant increases in imports despite domestic capacity expansions.With these capacity expansions,additives consumption is expected to grow from 2 billion pounds to 3 billion in five years,making China the third largest market for additives behind North America and Western Europe.This paper will review the markets for eight of the largest plastic additives in China,looking at consumption,suppliers,forecasts,major trends and driving forces.
