We report the nonvolatile holographic recording in the Ru and Fe doped LiNbO_3 crystal. The nonvolatile hologram can be recorded at a wavelength of 632.8 nm when the gating beam (blue light) is simultaneously incident on the crystal. The recorded hologram can be successfully fixed and transformed into a nonvolatile hologram keeping the hologram strength almost unchanged. The recording sensitivity and dynamic range increase with the increase of the Fe concentration. The sensitivity of 0.12 cm/J and the dynamic range of 0.53 are obtained at the 0.5-mm-thick sample.
