A Preliminary study on the dynamic adhesion between soil and steel

A special test device for the dynamic soil adhesion property has been developed based on the DOLI100 controller. A test schedule for the soil dynamic adhesion property has been established for the loading speed, unloading speed, and wave range of normal loads. Test results show that a sinusoidal normal load has an obvious effect on the adhesion force between soil and steel samples. The soil dynamic adhesion force increases with the enlarging of the amplitude of load under the test condition. The faster the contact speed between the soil surface and the steel sample, the greater the soil adhesion force because of the larger impact and more overshoot. The faster the unloading speed between the soil surface and the steel sample, the greater the soil adhesion force because of the instantaneous vacuum absorbability in the interface. It is also indicated that the developed device can provide the essential equipment and a new method for the foundational theory study and computer simulation of the soil dynamic adhesion behavior.
